Katie's hands trembled as she dropped the letter to the floor. Katie's heart raced as she picked up the letter again, her eyes scanning the words frantically. She couldn't believe what she was reading. Who would send her something like this? And what did it mean? Her mind raced with questions and fear as she tried to make sense of the cryptic message. She couldn't comprehend what she was reading. Was someone playing a sick joke on her? The letter contained a picture of her and Tommy, along with a note that read, "It's not over." Katie was terrified, but she muttered to herself, "Patience is dead. "Her mother's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Katie, you need to show the police this. You're seven months pregnant, and the stress isn't good for you or my grandson. "Katie called the detective, the only person she could trust. "I'll drive down later today," he assured her. "Don't worry, everything will be okay." A few hours later, there was a knock at the door. Katie opened it, but no one was there. Instead, there was a gift box with little blue shoes inside. "How strange," Katie thought, as she closed the door. The detective arrived shortly after. "Let me see this letter," he said. "I don't know, something feels off." "I always feel like I'm being watched," Katie told him. "Right before you came, someone knocked and dropped these off." She showed him the shoes. "That is strange," he replied. "Patience is dead, so is Tommy. Katie, I know you want it to be him, but it's not possible. Is he dead? Why wasn't I allowed to see him? Why was he cremated almost immediately?" "I can feel him," Katie insisted. "I know it sounds crazy, but I don't think Tommy's dead." "Okay, you either need some mental help or some sleep," the detective said firmly. "You saw him die, Katie. He died in your arms. Now you're just being delusional. I'll see if I can get any prints or anything off this letter, and you need to get ready for that baby." "Thank you," Katie said as she hugged the detective and escorted him to the door. "But don't go chasing ghosts, Katie. You'll only be let down," he cautioned before shutting the door. Katie did not want to believe that Tommy was really gone. Despite seeing him laying bloody on the floor that night, she couldn't shake the feeling that he was still out there somewhere. She missed him terribly, and all she wanted was to have a family with him. "Tommy, please come home," she cried. "If you're out there, we need you. I need you."
One night, as she lay in bed reading, something strange happened. Her bed suddenly became wet. "Did I pee myself?" she wondered. But then she realized what was happening: her water had broken. "Mom! Dad!" she yelled. "It's time!"
Her mother came running, and her father quickly fetched the truck. They rushed to the hospital, where Katie gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Little Tommy had his daddy's blue eyes and light blonde hair, and he weighed 7lbs 8ozs. Katie held him close and whispered to him about how much his daddy loved him. She kissed his little head and knew that, if Tommy was out there his son was the one thing she knows he wont be able to live without.
